JOB TITLE:
Construction materials testing (CMT) on site quality control heavy civil/industrial construction.
TRAVEL:
100% on site at project location in Louisiana
DESCRIPTION:
- Have an IMMEDIATE need for 2 Concrete Quality Control (QC) Managers for the first phase (and most likely 2nd phase) of a $1 billion new construction project building a new state of the art processing facility inside an existing refinery. The 1st phase will take roughly 2-3 months (at least until January 2009) and the 2nd phase will last an additional 8+ months with no break in between.
- Both QC Managers will initially support the 2nd shift (6:30 PM to 6:30 AM) of the 24 hour operation
- These two QC manager will take over the 1st shift operations once the 2nd phase begins until the end of the project which will be an additional 8 month.
- Ideally looking for the type of candidate who started out as a Field Tech / construction materials tester (CMT) and worked his way up through the years to a QC Manager.
- The QC Managers are responsible for maintaining the quality standards of the company; including the review of all drawings and blueprints/plans, concrete testing, erection inspection and monitoring the completion of all punch-list items.
- They must also insure that proper and up to date records are maintained for each project. May also be required to supervise, train and mentor junior level material testing technicians on site.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ years of experience overseeing the Quality Control / Quality Assurance for construction materials testing (i.e. Heavy Concrete, Rebar, Steel, etc.) on Heavy Civil or Industrial Facilities & Infrastructure construction projects (i.e. Water-Wastewater Facilities, Bridges, Dams, Petroleum Refineries, Steel Mills, Power Plants, Cement Plants, Large Manufacturing Plants, etc.) with project budgets of $50 million plus.
- 4+ years of QC experience in the Pre-stress/Precast Concrete Industry.
- Knowledge of all aspects specific to high-end, heavy construction projects.
- Ability to read and explain construction drawings/documents and blueprints.
- Very strong knowledge of the testing guidelines, processes & procedures for Concrete and Rebar (i.e. mix, slump, ICC inspection, air test, compressive strength, etc.)
- ACI / PCI / NICET Level 1, 2 and/or 3 certifications.
- Must have a high attention to detail as well as strong computer ability (MS Office) in order to ensure accurate reporting (daily reporting activities).
- Must be open to national / international travel in order to support the firm’s projects with high profile clients.
- Self motivated and very autonomous.
- Ability to supervise, train and mentor junior level technicians.
- Willingness to work 2nd shift on the site (6:30 PM to 6:30 AM)
- Willingness to work upwards of 78 hours per week (12 hours per day, 6 days per week and some Sundays) for months at a time.
SALARY:
$30-$32 and hour with 10-25 hour overtime but pay will be commensurate with experience.
