The world's leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment has a long-term contract position available for a Supplier Quality Engineer.
Position Description/Overview:
The Supplier Quality Engineer will work as part of a team, while mostly doing independent work. This position requires working with vendors and representing the Company to increase efficiency.
The Supplier Quality Engineer will drive projects focused upon supplier key business processes that influence customer satisfaction, waste elimination, efficiency and process/system quality. This will assure the alignment of Our Client's Supply Chain with their systems/policies and demand, with goals to improve overall supplier delivery performance to at least 98%.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Supplier Quality Engineer:

Identifies opportunities for improvement within external and internal supply chain processes and systems; prioritizes these opportunities and drives change projects to conclusion.

Manages the Supplier Performance Evaluation Program and performs audits of Supplier quality Systems and Manufacturing processes.
Oversees Customer and Supplier interface(s).

Deploys diagnostic processes for Root Cause Analysis of poor supply performance.
Identifies suppliers requiring additional Supply Chain Development activities in support of new model programs, and manages the implementation of the actions addressing those needs.
Trains suppliers in the use and appropriate deployment of Lean Manufacturing and other process improvement techniques.
Requires the development of new processes to solve the problems preventing good supply, as well as the improvement of existing processes.
Is able to work in a dynamic environment made up of challenging and diverse problems.
Drives change at suppliers from the highest level of management to shop floor activities.

Required Skills for this Supplier Quality Engineer position include the following:

3-5 years Quality Engineering experience a Manufacturing environment
Experience conducting Supply Chain and Manufacturing Process audits
Must understand flow through use of Value Stream Mapping and identification of waste
Ability to apply statistical tools and methods to problem-solving in a Supply Chain or Process Improvement arena
Excellent problem-solving skills; problem-solving and Project Management experience
Machining Processing and/or Manufacturing Processing experience
Ability to measure, analyze, implement and control
Foundry Processing experience a plus
Production Line, Lean Manufacturing and Process Improvement experience
Ability to read blueprints
Root Cause Analysis experience - i.e. 8D (8 Disciplines)
Corrective Action Format experience
Production line, lean manufacturing, process improvement
Strong presentation and excellent communication skills
Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering degree desirable
