PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. With input of the Supervisor, will develop new techniques, methods and technologies to serve as new products in surgical adhesives and implantable biomaterials that are patentable
2. Develops test procedures, formulations and production processes for these.
3. Manufactures and tests these new materials according to the newly developed or established procedures.
4. Conducts experiments independently after consultation with and approval of supervisor. Selects appropriate procedures among established ones or develops new ones.
5. Keeps complete and accurate records of all experimentation and results in form of laboratory notebooks, study binders and writes reports on experiments performed, including appropriate statistical analysis of the data.
6. Attends inter-departmental project team meetings as needed.
7. Assists in the training of new members of the laboratory on established procedures.
8. Assists in the technical writing of finalized Research & Development reports, standard operating procedures, and extramural grant applications.
9. Maintains inventory of laboratory supplies, production materials, intermediates and final products.
10. Provides assistance to R&D or other departmental personnel as necessary within the scope of his/her expertise.
