2nd Shift Set-Up Operator (Injection Molding)

Perform required duties to set-up, adjust, maintain, and operate injection molding machines and related equipment.

Install dies on machine according to work order specifications, using materials such as clamps, bolts, and hand tools. Set machine controls, regulating molding temperature of plastic, molding pressure and time, utilizing knowledge of materials, equipment, and molding procedures. Perform required machine maintenance. Feed premixed plastic pellets into hopper or attach automatic feed and start machine. May grind scrap plastic into pellets for re-use. Assist operators and group leaders as required or directed. Set-up and adjust related equipment such as ultrasonic welders. Use inspections equipment, such as dial caliper, micrometer, pin gauges. May perform systems transactions.

Move materials as necessary in performance of duties, as required, or as directed. Detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions to supervisor. Maintain work area and equipment in clean and orderly condition. Following established safety and security rules and regulations.

Conduct tasks in accordance with applicable health, safety, quality, and environmental regulations (state/federal laws, ISO9001, ISO14001, etc.) as well as Rockwell Automation policies and procedures.

Maintain thorough familiarity with policies and procedures relating to standards of business conduct; understand the importance of full compliance with the letter and spirit of such policies and procedures.


Required Skills

• Directly related experience of a minimum of three years duration, including set-up and machine maintenance experience in thermoplastics injection molding, and knowledge of engineering materials used in processes

• Ability to comprehend and follow oral/written/visual aid instructions and communicate orally and in writing with supervisor and co-workers. Includes ability to interpret blueprints.

• Ability to perform arithmetic calculations, including manipulation of fractions and decimals.

• Ability to maintain continuous mental and visual attention to perform task.

• Ability to engage in continuous and/or repetitive physical activity involving manipulation of light weight to heavy weight tools and materials in a variety of work positions, including sitting, standing, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, squatting, climbing, balancing, kneeling.

• Ability to exercise judgment for proper use of equipment and processes, to recognize and segregate defective/unusual conditions, and to recognize and avoid unsafe practices and conditions.
