Job Listing: SQL Server DBA

TEKsystems and its partner are in search of a SQL Server DBA for a 3 month contract for hire. The successful SQL Server DBA will be capable of performing SQL Server administration, tuning and data modeling. This role requires communication with several levels of the business, and heavy interaction with the IT staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):

- Possess excellent understanding of SQL Server 2005, with SQL Server 2000 as a plus exhibited by at least three years serving as a database administrator.
- Troubleshoot and resolve SQL Server performance issues.
- Support development staff by tuning queries and providing insight into SQL Server concepts.
- Participate in a pager rotation providing 24x7 support.
- Ensure compliance to database standards through the entire software development life cycle.
- Be proficient in database backup and recovery, high-availability and business recovery.
- Possess a solid understanding of Transact-SQL, data modeling, and SQL Server clustering.
- Develop and maintain physical data models with input from the development staff.
- Research and evaluate new features of SQL Server and their applicability to current application databases.
- SQL Server Reporting and Analysis Services, Business Objects, and Crystal Reports experience a plus.
- Possess excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Must be a self-starter and able to communicate with all levels of management and peers.
- Must have the ability to cope in a rapidly changing environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Possess the ability to prioritize work and multitask effectively.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

This is a contract for hire therefore W-2 candidates only. The client will not sponsor work visas.
