JOB SUMMARY:
The Linux Systems Administrator is responsible for systems administration on the Linux/Unix platform. The administrator is also a responsible for overall Internet data center operations. The administrator conducts day-to-day maintenance of Unix and Linux systems and for upgrades and migrations. S/he serves as a key resource supporting application developers and testers in their daily work.
JOB DUTIES:
Provide day-to-day role in managing IDC data and supporting environments. Serve as resource on the Unix and Webserver ticketing queues. Provide key role in monitoring of Unix and Linux platforms.
Support procedural and systems modifications to infrastructure services and systems designed to improve systems availability and overall efficiency.
Serve as a technical systems administration resource for Websphere, Tomcat, PHP/Apache and CoreMedia (Java) server platforms.
Responsible for infrastructure upgrade and modernization projects intended to continue support, maintain availability and improve performance on Unix and Linux systems. Participate in the automation of routine tasks in the Unix and Linux areas.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems or related field (or equivalent experience) is preferred, but not required.
3-5 years of progressive Linux/Unix systems administration experience. Knowledge of Solaris 9 & 10 and RedHat administration.
RedHat RHCE or equivalent experience. Experience in CFEngine, CVS, management of Red Hat Network (for updates) as well as PXE/Kickstart.
Systems administration-level knowledge of: DNS/BIND, SENDMAIL, HTTP/Apache, SSH, FTP, SMTP/Sendmail, SNMP/NetSNMP, KERBEROS+AD, NIS, NFS, Perl and shell scripting.
Experience in Network Appliance NAS technology; SnapRestore, file system is desirable. Significant experience in TCP/IP networking is required.
Knowledge of Windows workstation and server technology. Experience with Oracle a major plus. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Visio diagramming tool) a plus.
Demonstrated ability to generate and maintain technical documentation is required. Excellent verbal communications skills and the demonstrated ability to serve as the technical lead teams are required.
