Job Listing: Sr. Linux/Unix Systems Engineer
This a very hands-on Systems Engineer role for someone with advanced knowledge of Linux, Unix and with Network Engineering skills. Since this is a smaller organization, it's important to be open to wearing a few different hats. If you're looking for a position where you will be challenged, given an opportunity to learn multiple disciplines within the technology field, then this could be an ideal role for you. Your immediate supervisor would be the Director of IT, who reports to the Principles of the company, so you would be only a couple degrees away from the top level of the organization.
In this role you will be responsible for defining, designing and implementing IT solutions in response to business needs. You will develop and maintain effective working relations with users, vendors, and other department personnel. This organization is constantly looking for the latest and greatest technological solutions, and you will be asked to help identify and evaluate the future technologies for enterprise and departmental solutions. You will manage projects through entire life cycle including, creating and maintaining project plans, define scope and requirements, technical design, project presentations, managing tasks and providing appropriate project reporting.
Required Skills
Additionally, you will help create and maintain clear and easily understandable documentation for the current state and proposed state of systems. Monitor server-level access by both internal and external sources to assure secure enterprise systems. It will be important to have experience with an enterprise backup strategy design and implementation.

Salary and Benefits
As the primary go-to person for the critical IT systems, you will need to be open to answering emergency calls, regardless of the time of day/night and provide support remotely when needed. Your creativity with regards to problem solving will be a tremendous asset to you in this position. As there may be situations where you will help move computer equipment to more optimal places, you must be able to lift 50 lbs. You will be responsible to administer front end Windows and Linux trading applications and the servers.

Linux, Unix (Solaris), Windows 2000/2003, Active Directory, MS Exchange 2003, TCP/IP, Multicast, firewall configuration, WAN Routing, Shell Scripting (Perl, Python or other), SQL, SQL Server
Nice to Have Skills:
SAN/NAS, MySQL, Postgres, Virtualization, Visio, FIX Protocol
